Venue

The meeting is hosted at the Hoxton, Lloyd, serving as the meeting venue and hotel lodging. 

NOTE: There are two Hoxton’s in Amsterdam the other one is at Herengracht, and is more in the city center – this is NOT the correct Hoxton.  When finding your way make sure you look for the Hoxton, Lloyd in your Google Maps!

Transport in Amsterdam 

It takes about 35 minutes from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to the Hoxton, Lloyd on Public Transportation.  

You can use your contactless debit card, credit card or mobile phone to check in and out of all public transport in Amsterdam. You simply need to hold your card against the card reader on the bus, tram or, train. The system will beep once you have checked in correctly. Be sure to check out with the same card at your destination.  

If you prefer to buy a train ticket from the airport into the city, you can also buy a public transport card from the yellow ticket machines at Schiphol and most stations.

Directions: 

If you are arriving at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, take the train to Amsterdam Centraal Station.  

From Centraal Station take Tram 26 towards Jburg. Take 3 stops and get off at
Rietlandpark, then its just a 3 minute walk to the Hoxton entrance. 

I you wish to walk from Centraal station it is just under 40 minutes.

Expense Reimbursement

Meridian will book and pay for two nights of lodging and meals during the workshop including: dinner on Monday, 12 May; breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Tuesday, 13 May; and breakfast and lunch on Wednesday, 14 May. For those traveling from outside Europe, if you plan to depart on Thursday, 15 May, Meridian will cover dinner and lodging on Wednesday, 14 May, and breakfast on Thursday, 15 May. A reasonable cost for meals in transit will be reimbursed with documentation. 

If you incur expenses for meals or ground transportation during your travel, please save your receipts and follow these steps to request a reimbursement: 

  1. Complete this reimbursement form
  2. Complete this international wire transfer form if you are based outside the USA.
  3. Compose an email to aeddy@merid.org with the subject line: “[YOUR LAST NAME]_HLAG Request for Reimbursement
  4. Attach your completed reimbursement form
  5. Attach clear copies of your convening-related receipts
  6. Submit by your form and receipts by 23 May 2025.

It is critical that you save receipts for any meals or ground transportation over your travel dates. We are only able to reimburse you for expenses for which you have receipts.

FAQ

What meals are included at the convening? 

Drinks & Dinner on Monday, 12 May; breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Tuesday, 13 May; and breakfast and lunch on Wednesday, 14 May. For those traveling from outside Europe, if you plan to depart on Thursday, 15 May, Meridian will cover dinner and lodging on Wednesday, 14 May, and breakfast on Thursday, 15 May. For those staying a day extra, Hoxton has a restaurant/bar where you can order food.  Check out their menus here. 

 

What should I pack the convening? 

Amsterdam in May can be anywhere from 8°C to 17°C (45°F-62°F), and can be beautiful and sunny, or provide some rainy days.  

To ensure comfort and safety during the trip, please review the recommended packing list: 

  • Passport and Visa: Ensure you have your passport and any necessary visas for your trip. 
  • Power Plug Adapter: Bring an EU power plug adapter to charge your electronic devices. 
  • Reusable Water Bottle: Carry a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated, there will be water refill locations at the hotel & meeting venue. 
  • Business Casual Clothes: Pack business casual attire for your Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday meetings. This may include dress shirts, blouses, slacks, skirts, and footwear. Most important is comfort! 
  • It could be good to have a rain jacket or an umbrella. Check the weather when you pack!
